We believe assessment is a critical and ongoing aspect of the teaching and learning cycle, and the way we can challenge our learners, analyse their needs and measure their success. It is used to inform the teacher of student understanding, knowledge and skills in all learning areas and to provide timely feedback to students, and to report to parents with. Assessment is used to modify and differentiate the teaching program in order for individual learning needs to be met.
We use a variety of standardised and diagnostic assessment tools, such as NAPLAN, Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) for Reading, Comprehension, and Mathematics, Running Records for reading behaviours, Writing Sample Analysis, Clinical Interviews for Mathematics and The Religious Education Test and ICAS assessments, the Year 6 Religious Education Test along with analysis of classroom-based work samples.
In recent years, we have been seeing steady growth in most areas of Reading and Mathematics, and continue to focus on these for improvement.
